Beach Runway
My project is a large runway integrated into a public park and beach area for a fashion client. I explored the expansion of places specified for the clients private uses above and below ground, as well as places for the public to enjoy the space with access to view the runway and have interaction on the beach area. I began with three different scales of activities for a fashion designer. When thinking about these designs, I specifically considered horizontal planes – the ground plane, and the roof plane, and how the design for the client could operate in below and above the ground. I am interested in the idea of challenging the typical relationship between audience and artist. Through integrating the design in a public space, the public can be involved in creative processes and learn how the fashion evolved over time.
