From Lines to Crenelated Structures

My project began with a study of crenelation and stepping patterns found throughout figures grounds. Through this study, I was able to acquire a set of crenelated lines, which through a series of translations, became the foundation for my designs. The featured plan displays a figure field in which each figure is created through my initial lines as well as the negative spaces created by these lines. The fabric overlays, used in all the drawings are used to differentiate between the objects within the images as well as to create a quilt-like design. The two structures featured are a restaurant and a lifeguard stand created by the addition, subtraction, and extrusions of crenelated lines.
