Amplifying an Arboretum
For this project, I designed an intervention for Chavez Arboretum at Elysian Park. The proposed intervention creates a COVID-safe space for parkgoers to engage with each other and with the arboretum. When I first visited the arboretum, I found that other than a single sign, and there being a lot of trees, there wasn’t much that felt formally like an arboretum. However, there was a fair number of people enjoying the space. So what I wanted to do was twofold: (1) to create a space that was in conversation with the arboretum (2) that also enhanced the ways the space was already used.
