RE-THINKING THE LA INDUSTRIAL VERNACULAR AND THE LONG SPAN TRADITION

This project introduced the technical aspect of design for a public multi-purpose community center. It features a long span bowstring truss reinvented as a dome.The project is located within South LA in the neighborhood Leimert Park.This two story shed is a new typology reintroducing elements of the historic community. The project focuses on providing a wide variety of extracurricular activities for the children and teens in the neighborhood. There are also places for the neighborhood to express creativity in both outdoor and indoor spaces.
