Form Follows Performance

Form Follows Performance interrogates the notion of performance in architecture as a catalyst for formal experimentation and a basis for understanding opportunities to challenge conventional approaches to architectural design. By expanding the definition(s) of performance beyond utilitarian or technical definitions, the studio explores the relevance of architectural form as a product of discovery by exploring the reciprocity between form (geometry), force (performance), matter (organization), and craft (fabrication). By leveraging and redefining performative strategies for architectural design as an opportunity to challenge convention, architecture has the ability to provide memorable one-of-a-kind urban experiences that have a social, cultural, and technological impact.
