Responding to the vibrance of the Leimert Park neighborhood and the continued extraction of wealth from black neighborhoods, the project comes from an interest in architecture that responds to context by amplifying its surroundings. Through a series of perspective drawings of, in, through, above, below, within, and along the site, the project investigates relationships between living and working, inside and outside, public and private, individual and community. By developing the architecture through these drawings, the project prioritizes discussion of the use and ownership of the ‘in between spaces’ over discussion of the buildings.
