Spatial Magnet
In this project, we are designing a comprehensive building for Leimert Park. By providing affordable housing for low-income communities and connecting the scattered park network on site, the twin city proposal attempts to solve issues of social inequity and disconnection. Instead of leveling all spaces, using cuts and terrace to create several indoor communities. Not like regular apartment building, all the units are randomly organized into the space with shared area in the middle. Without partition wall in co-working space, but placing the desk and table around each one to provide a feeling of working in a small office. Co-working area and co-living area are connected in every floor, which creates social connection between residents and people who work here. Taking the idea of magnet, illustrating that all different kinds of spaces in the project are engaged.
