The Details on Details

This studio investigated the role of detail as a generative tool for architectural design through the observation of its construction. Beginning with conventional details, students were expected to analyze, produce, and re-think these standardized assemblages into new standards within their own designs. Respectively, students built these drawings and proposals into a drawing set over the course of the semester with
the following primary objectives in mind: 1. An understanding of material systems and their conventional use through the act of drawing & design. 2. A integration of said details applied to a range of scales with an innate sense of designed equity. 3. The learned knowledge of typical graphic forms of representation, both tonal & greyscale.
