A Sense of Gathering

The building’s approach towards a sense of gathering begins with its looping circulation that wraps around the main body of the building. A person can actively traverse from the first floor, all the way to the roof. The first floor acts as the first gathering spot— an open courtyard that people can use for many celebrations. Meanwhile, the roof acts as the second gathering spot— a more relaxed venue compared to downstairs.

One can either take the inner route that spirals within the center courtyard, or the more visibly seen “stepping” pattern placed around the exterior of the building. Whichever you choose, the goal is to ultimately lead the user through a “journey” within and around the inner and outer rings of the building, and perhaps along the way, the resident can meet new and/or familiar faces of residents within the apartment complex.
