greenhouse
This building addresses the Cooperative housing phenomenon by providing affordable and contextual housing for the residents of Leimert Park. Taking advantage of the Saturday farmers market, this structure implements an urban garden, where the residents collectively farm and sell produce. The greenhouse takes its name from the biophilic architectural style. Nature weaves into the building through interior plantings and ecosystems, urban gardens, materiality, and passive cooling systems emulating a positive living experience. The photovoltaic and passive systems make the building virtually carbon neutral as 5-10kwh are sold back to the grid each day. This building provides a green, cost-effective solution to the housing problem in Los Angeles.
