Oakwood Community Park

Located in the residential Oakwood neighborhood, this project aims to bring together the residents by providing various services and reprogramming the park and community center to be more integrated and flexible. The site plan scheme includes a decentralized program organization that spreads various single-story buildings throughout the park. The interior and exterior spaces are strongly connected and circulation around the community center is outdoors. The program elements are spread out through the park and sit under an overarching glulam roof and trellis system. Environmental aspects such natural sunlight and ventilation, photovoltaics, grey water recycling, and sustainable building materials were also considered. The size and orientation of the building elements blend in with the residential scale of the neighborhood, and the decentralization of the program allows for access to these buildings from many points around the park and surrounding streets.
