Leimert Park: Rotated seeks to effectively house 57 people and provide uniform natural lighting through the rotation of the dwelling units. The rotated grain of the units allows for the solar panels to receive southern sunlight and the clerestory of the sawtooth typology to receive northern light. The incorporation of the sawtooth typology can be observed on multiple scales, from the roof to sectional shifts and to the aggregation in plan view. The public program invites residents living within the site as well as nearby residents of Leimert Park and beyond by providing a space of education, collaboration, and a tutoring center. The central courtyard allows for an informal gathering space with integrated perimeter planters and trees to promote cooling and shading.
