States of Flow
My design focuses on using curves and straight lines to create a flow of movement between compressed spaces of passage and expansive spaces of ritual. Curved lines imply directionality in the flow between spaces while straight lines are used to define the spaces boundaries. Flow is important to me because I like to live without boundaries, hence my daily ritual involves switching from a vast array of overlapping activities and programs that take place in different spaces. Therefore it is important for me to seamlessly transition and flow between these spaces which is why you don’t see many doors in my plans. By using curves to control the shift between compressed and expansive spaces I have eradicated harsh thresholds between spaces that would disrupt one’s seamless flow throughout the space.
