Teatro Azteca

This theatre is centered around the celebration of Mariachi performances within the plaza setting, focusing on the culmination to performance through the framing of activity and circulation of the site. This is done using a series of systems which work to slowly reveal the audience and performers to the performance area as the moment of performance approaches. Framed by the seating areas and system of beams directly above it, the stage honors the tradition of Mariachi as it is easily understood as the heart and central focus point of the entire structure.
