The Art of Access

Set 100 years into the future, a reliance on technology for communication has negatively impacted the arts community, as people interact less face-to-face in person. As a result, art is created based on digital precedents, and the skill of drawing from physical observation is almost obsolete. The success of a work is gauged by how many likes and shares it gets on social media, eliminating the experience that artists and viewers share when exhibits and performances take place in-person.

The Superblock of Access brings artists and the public back in conversation with one another by opening the process of art creation to the public. To facilitate this reconnection, the site employs a gradation of public and private spaces, the incorporation of multiple methods of circulation, and a layout where adjacent districts feature complimentary programs.
