Thresholds

Throughout the semester, I investigated the threshold between the body and the environment. In the photo matrix I investigated conditions of claustrophobia that can emerge when the environment intrudes on the body’s space. In the matrix analysis I investigated what conditions are achieved when the body mutually collaborates with the environment using cell-like forms as representative figures. For the pure threshold I created a collaboration between body and environment where the user begins at the same square they started. And in my indexical threshold I created an object where one user can influence the environment of others while still remaining isolated. My final project, a mixed-use complex with a metro gateway, defines distinct paths yet relies on the user’s autonomy in choosing their path.
