Dance Studio in a Park

This Dance Studio in a Park consists of a site and monolithic object that engage symbiotically, allowing the building to remain separate and fortress-like. However, there are specific moments where these two components mesh together to provide physical and visible access for the audience. For instance, the landscape’s path flows into the building and encourages the public to engage with the interior spaces. Furthermore, the performance program within the building punctures through the exterior surface and presents itself outward towards the public seating. By utilizing voids and thresholds that blur the edges between building and site, my monolithic object designed for dancers can also be inviting for audience members.
