Interactive Superblock
The Interactive Superblock investigates the need for an integration of space, and the removal of societal divisions. Burbank, in context, had segregated areas of residential and retail or commercial areas, as well as divisions due to traffic, railroads, and highways. This superblock aims to tear down social divisions to create an interactive and diverse community, where cultural differences can thrive alongside one another. Using a concept of mat-building, the superblock is designed for maximized pedestrian movement, as well as the possibility of chance
encounters. This allows pedestrians to discover spaces and intermingle with the community as they wander and explore the city.
